Award-winning singer N'Kenge will perform with the Jacksonville Symphony March 23 and 24 at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m.
N'Kenge has performed for presidents, at the EMMY's, the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. The world-renowned singer will return to the Symphony to perform songs from African-American greats such as Billie Holiday, Diana Ross, Leontyne Price and more.
N'Kenge recently appeared on national television singing the national anthem at Madison Square Garden. She made her Broadway debut in "Sondheim and Sondheim" singing along with the late Barbara Cook and Vanessa Williams. Her performance at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. was broadcast worldwide on NPR.
N'Kenge often appears as a soloist in pop programs with the Indianapolis Symphony, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra and New York Pops Orchestra and others around the globe.
Kenny Seymour will be joining N’Kenge as music director. Seymour has worked with Broadway's top producers, composers, playwrights, choreographers and directors. He has performed around the world, from the Legendary Apollo Theatre and Carnegie Hall to the Montreux Jazz Festival.
