Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County celebrates one year of caring for our community

To the Editor:

One year ago, we met the community’s need for high-quality care in a convenient, patient-friendly setting by opening the doors to Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County.

We know access to care contributes to the long-term wellbeing of the patients and communities we serve, and we’re prepared to evolve as this community's health care needs continue to grow.

Our 150,000-square-foot hospital offers patients access to 56 inpatient beds, including eight ICU beds, and also provides emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, heart care, orthopedics and spine care, general surgery and the latest imaging technology.

Our community members also have access to primary care and specialty care services close to home in the medical office building adjacent to the hospital, including cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, and urology.

By improving the quality and safety of services, increasing access to care and promoting prevention, we have the ability to enhance the lives of individuals and the vitality of our community. In June, 75 women from across the community joined us at a Women’s Cardiology Symposium to learn about heart disease, obesity and weight loss medications. We look forward to hosting additional seminars to educate our community on how they can take control of their health.

With Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County, we plan to continue our longstanding history of providing care to St. Johns County and Northeast Florida. According to the most recent census data, St. Johns County’s population jumped 43% from 2010 to 2020, making it one of the fastest growing counties in America. The new hospital has been a boon for the local economy, creating approximately 500 new jobs to help support the growing need for health care services.

Everyone deserves high-quality, compassionate health care options as conveniently located as possible. As St. Johns County continues to grow and thrive, we’re excited to offer health care options that grow along with the community.
