Aqua East GROM Fest, a surf, skate and wake competition, rides into the Beaches communities Oct. 12-14.
The second annual event is for surfers, skateboarders and wakeboarders to compete for over $2,100 in cash and prizes from Aqua East Surf Shop and sponsors such as Hurley, Quiksilver, Volcom, O’Neill, Sector 9, Billabong and more.
Aqua East GROM Fest was created to provide the surfing, skateboarding and wakeboarding community in Northeast Florida the opportunity to compete and highlight the skills of the area’s local talent. Each event has divisions for all ages and skill levels so everyone can compete, have fun, meet friends and cheer for all the surfers, skaters and wakeboarders. The schedule for the event is as follows:
· Skate Jam – Friday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. at South Beach Skate Park
· Surf Contest – Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. at the South Jacksonville Beach Pier
· Wake Contest – Sunday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. at Palm Valley Outdoor Bar and Grill in Ponte Vedra Beach
· Awards – following each event
· VANS Clean-up – following each event with hats, bags and more swag for volunteers
The competition will feature a variety of divisions including: Junior Open Division (17 and under); Junior Women 15-17; Boys 12-14; Girls 12-14; Junior Boys 9-11; Junior Girls 9-11; 8 and Under Co-ed; Sandy Forsyth Longboard Contest (all ages); Wakesurf/Outlaw (all ages); Free Fun Skate Jam; and Photo Contest (all ages). New for 2018, the Trifecta is for anyone that competes in all three events, including surf, skate and wake.

The cost is $65 for the Trifecta (includes all entry fees). On-site sign-ups are available for an additional $10. The photo contest is free.
