Annual Palm Valley Boat Parade to be held Dec. 1

Posted

In what has become one of the Beaches' best holiday traditions, the annual Palm Valley Boat Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m.

Beginning just south of the Palm Valley Bridge and traveling north through the Palm Valley cut to the end of Marsh Landing, this event provides fun for all ages and helps ring in the holiday season in a truly Florida fashion. While similar to other local boat parades, the narrow nature of the Palm Valley Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) creates a very personal atmosphere and offers unique spectator proximity and interaction.

Everyone is welcome to participate, and the public is invited to view the parade from any of the numerous restaurants on the ICW, including Lulu’s, Barbara Jean’s, Palm Valley Fish Camp, Palm Valley Outdoors or Valley Smoke. But space is limited and there is usually little table turnover, so it is encouraged to arrive early or join friends who will be having a dock party at their home.

Parade captain registration is ongoing via http://palmvalleyboatparade.com/. Interested local boat owners are encouraged to consider participating. There are numerous registration categories and prizes up for grabs as well. There is also a dock decorating contest that homeowners along the parade route are encouraged to sign up for.

Parade participants must attend the mandatory Captain's Safety Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. at The American Legion in Palm Valley, located at 560 North Wilderness Trail in Ponte Vedra Beach.
