A tropical luau was the theme of the 10th Annual Swing into Spring party held last week in conjunction with THE PLAYERS Championship.

Held May 13 in the Ponte Vedra Park Drive business park, the annual event attracted hundreds of local business and community members to celebrate the tournament while raising funds for a worthy cause. In addition to live entertainment, guests enjoyed island-style fare provided by 4 Rivers Smokehouse and the chance to win a variety of raffle prizes.

Proceeds from this year’s Swing into Spring event benefited Seamark Ranch (www.seamarkranch.com), a faith-based nonprofit that provides a stable, two-parent home on a farm for children who have suffered abuse and neglect. Located in Green Cove Springs, Seamark Ranch serves children from across the First Coast.

“We get a lot of support from folks in the Ponte Vedra area,” Executive Director Fred Meiners said. “Children come to us not because of anything they have done, but because of the family situation they were in. We’ve had kids stay with us for seven years.”

Privately funded through donations, Seamark Ranch currently serves 16 children in two homes on the ranch, which includes a farm, an equestrian program and its own school. The organization hopes to build more homes so that it can serve up to 96 children at a time.

Sponsors of this year’s Swing into Spring event include Montoya & Associates, The Griggs Group, Manormo/Sotheby’s International Realty, Advos, Eastern Quality Foods, Southeast Orthopedic Specialists, Assurant Employee Benefits and VyStar Credit Union.
