      MWYF receives $10K Chase grant, chance for more

      The MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation has received a $10,000 grant from Chase and the USTA Foundation.
      MWYF is among 10 National Junior Tennis & Learning programs to receive a grant, and all 10 communities are competing for an additional $10,000 via Twitter. The competition will run through Sept. 3; the winner of the additional funds will be announced Sept. 7.       Voters gear up for Nov. general election

      St. Johns County voter participation lagged slightly behind Duval County in the 2014 Primary Election, held Aug. 26. An estimated 13,467 voters turned out on Election Day, according to the St. Johns County Supervisor of Elections website. Total voter turnout was just 15.87 percent of registered voters in the county, versus Duval County’s estimated 16.77 percent.

      Early Learning Coalition of Northeast Florida and RSVP of St. Johns County are sponsoring a book drive as part of a Sept. 11 service day project.
      ELC will collect new or very gently used preschool books through Sept. 11. The books will go to local child care centers, according a news release.
