Shellie Goldstein says you don’t have to. She’s introduced a new service to the Beaches that doesn’t involve a scalpel, pain medication and recovery time to make you look fresher.
The Acufacial, a natural nonsurgical facelift, offers an alternative to the traditional facelift through acupuncture. Goldstein, who utilizes acupuncture as well as micro-currents, LED lights and Ultrasound technology, created the Acufacial Resculpting System and the results appear incredible.
"Acupuncture is designed to strengthen you internally," Goldstein said. "It treats the underneath through pathways of energy and points on meridians [on the body]. It changes the way the chi runs through the body."
Goldstein, who discovered acupuncture in 1991 after a back injury, has been practicing the ancient Chinese medicine for 18 years as a licensed acupuncturist. She said the Acufacial is like taking your face to the gym.

The process involves four different technologies. Fine, sterile, disposable needles are inserted in specific points on the skin to balance energy and improve physical and emotional wellbeing. Each session is tailored to the client’s specific needs. Micro-current, a sub-sensory vibration that works with the body’s electrical energy system is used during the 90 minute treatment to lift, restore and reeducate facial muscles. Goldstein also uses Ultrasound, a non-auditory vibration that penetrates through the skin’s surface, to lift dead surface cells without the use of acids.
"You direct the pinpoint of sound to the surface of the skin and it literally pops off dead skin cells," she said.
In addition, red and blue LED lights are used to improve circulation and lymphatic flow and reduce redness, heal wounds and calm irritated skin. The four part process, said Goldstein, is the best facial you’ve ever had in your life.
