On July 9, the date of her 106th birthday Clare Swanson chatted with guests, enjoyed some refreshments and received birthday wishes from family in Germany and other friends.
The former Jacksonville Beach city manager, who retired in 1951, lives with her daughter Jan McCraken, in her Palm Valley home along the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway. Grandaughter Kelly Bauer and great-grandson Brandon Bauer were also on hand for the festive celebration.
Jerry McCoy and staff from Double J's repair shop on Canal Boulevard, also helped Swanson celebrate her birthday. "We've been going over there on her birthday for quite some time" She's a wonderful woman," said McCoy.
