Valedictorian of the inaugural senior class of Ponte Vedra High School, Reesa Lendry has enjoyed her role in helping create traditions at Ponte Vedra High School and is looking forward to her Pre-Med studies at the University of Florida.

 

How does it feel to be the first Valedictorian at Ponte Vedra High School?

It was surprising and very exciting.

You say "surprising," you weren’t sure of your ranking before the announcement?

I knew I was in the top three, but I didn’t expect to be Valedictorian.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be going into the University of Florida’s Pre-Med program.

What will you miss the most about your time at Ponte Vedra High School?

I liked the environment; they [the faculty] really try to make the school work for you. I will also miss being part of the leading group, we helped establish how things would be for those following us.

What is your favorite subject?

I like math and science.

What are you looking forward to post graduation?

In college I am looking forward to the independence, being able to focus on my strengths. After college I am looking forward to Med. School and possibly traveling abroad.

Where are you from originally?

I was born here.

What is the farthest you have traveled from home?

I have been to Boston and to the Bahamas.

What is your favorite book?

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.

What is your favorite quote?

"The book of life doesn’t have the answers in the back," Charlie Brown.

Who is your favorite cartoon character?

When I was younger my favorite fictional character was the Count from Sesame Street.

What music are you listening to right now?

Replay by IS and Set the fire to the third bar by Snow Patrol.

What is your greatest achievement?

Getting accepted to college.

Any strange talents?

I can move my ears.

What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you?

I was asked to leave the first pre-school I attended. They told my mom that it wasn’t the right place for me, I didn’t like it and asked to leave all the time.
