your take: keep the jaguars here

We, as an organization, are very concerned about the possibility of the Jaguar Football Team leaving Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Jaguar Foundation has funded grants for so many worthwhile groups in our area that help children. What would we do without them?

St. Gerard Campus is a fully accredited Interfaith High School for pregnant teenage girls in northeast Florida. We are ranked third in the State of Florida amongst the top 60 private high schools. We enjoy a better than 90 percent graduation rate, with most our young ladies going onto college or into the military. We also provide housing for high-risk, abused, confused or neglected pregnant teens.

In addition to receiving an accredited high school education, our teenagers have the advantage of a fully licensed daycare while in school. It is a teaching daycare, where our girls learn to care for their children. We empower these young women while their children are in safe educated hands.

Grants from the Jaguar Foundation has helped to make this possible. We also benefit from "Dignity You Wear,"another charity funded by the Jaguars. From the poorest of homes, our young women can dress for success for college and jobs.

Yes, I could go on and on about the unending benefits the Jaguars provide for battered women, the underserved pregnant teenagers and babies, but they also bring great joy to our city as part of the NFL.

We need to thank them for what they have brought to Jacksonville and pray they continue their earnest work for the underprivileged, the destitute and mostly for the children. I pray God bless them in the future.
